Celebrating Women in Film

2024 NZCFF 17 -24 November

Our Story

New Zealand, celebrated for its diversity and inclusiveness, has seen a substantial increase in cultural and economic exchanges with China in recent years. In support of this growing relationship, the New Zealand Chinese Film Festival aims to be a dynamic platform for fostering cultural exchange and creative collaboration between New Zealand and China.

The festival offers local audiences a unique opportunity to experience the rich storytelling and artistry of China’s film industry. Each year, a carefully curated selection of feature films, documentaries, and short films explores universal themes like family, resilience, love, and transformation—stories that resonate across cultures and deepen mutual understanding.

As the festival continues to grow, it remains dedicated to not only showcasing the work of Chinese filmmakers but also building stronger New Zealand-China cultural ties.

Our Version

The New Zealand Chinese Film Festival serves as a dynamic bridge between East and West, dedicated to fostering meaningful connections between New Zealand and China’s film communities. Through carefully curated screenings, engaging panel discussions, and hands-on masterclasses, the festival creates a space for cultural exchange and collaboration.

Our mission is to empower both seasoned and emerging filmmakers by offering comprehensive resources and networking opportunities. By providing tools for skill development and valuable insights into the global film landscape, we aim to support new talents and foster innovation in filmmaking.

As a vibrant platform for storytelling, the New Zealand Chinese Film Festival celebrates the power of film to connect cultures, enrich perspectives, and build lasting relationships across borders.
